Actually it is not so good...
Many people have told me that Prague is a very beautiful european city, the buildings are very well-conserved and Charles Bridge is magical. Thus I boarded the train to eastern europe with a great expectation of how Prague would impress me!
But then, upon reaching the train station from western europe-Austria, I began to see the difference between western and eastern europe. Everything was abit more messy, abit more dirty and abit more unsafe... Plus we spent about 1hour trying to locate our hostel late at night, and then upon reaching, the hostel seriously sucked. Thats the blood stained-blanket hostel, by the way...
Nevertheless, I woke up the next morning with fresh hope that the visit to Prague Castle and Charles Bridge would change everything.
And yes, indeed climbing the old castle stairs as depicted above gave a great view of the city, the best, as described in some travel reviews.
Eww.. the guard is not handsome wan..
Prague is also a musical city, there is always many orchestra, concerts and plays going on. Everywhere you would see posters of concerts, especially Mozart's Don Giovanni musical, because ages ago, Mozart had his pioneer performance of it in... Prague!
So, we paid around 15SGD to watch the below.
It lasted for one hour, was really good, especially when they played classical songs that I know, but I can't help dozing off half way through :P
St. Vitus Cathedral. A Gothic-style church with many bohemian Kings tomb inside. But after visiting so many church in europe, church = church to me :X I even stop visiting church in any city that I go, because I know I wouldnt remember anything out of it, even though it might be very famous for something.
I mean everyone travel for different purpose, why should we strictly follow the recommended itinerary if it doesnt interest us? End of the day, you wouldnt enjoy yourself and worse of all, cant remember anything, because you just wanna get it over and done with when visiting those recommended-but-you-are-not-interested places. Might be hard to digest, but if you travel quite abit, I think you would understand how I am feeling...
How can I miss out taking photo with pretty babes!
The golden lane inside the Prague castle. My favourite part of the castle. This lane really really looks like those movie scene settings in ancient times. Very well-preserved indeed! There are shops selling things like accessories, soaps and dried food along the lane.
I wanted a solo photo, but that kid just didnt want to get out, so might as well take a group photo!
On the way into the prison cell...
Torture equipment.
After spending an afternoon in the castle, we made our way to the ... KARLUV MOST! CHARLES BRIDGE that is! I first know about it through some TV travel show, yea I love watching travel shows, other than entertainment show.
It is said to be magical both at dawn and at dusk! But we were only there in time for dusk, and part of the bridge was under renovation, so....
including the most popular and significant statue there.
thats the John of Nepomuk. He was thrown in the river that Charles Bridge connects, in year 1393, as the refused to divluge the secret of the queen. Thus the statue is, of course, to commemorate his manner of death!
The summarized story.
Yep, you find lots of quality buskers on the bridge too! Its just so enjoyable to stop and watch them. No tragic feeling or hard pushing for money.
Walking down, I entered a chandelion shop and the shop owner came up to chat with me. He asked me to pick any chandelion I like, but of course I didnt treat it seriously. Anyway, he requested for the photo, so funny, even when the one who keeps it is ME!
Some buildings that I find it beautiful.
The next day, we went to another town, called Kutna Hora. There is a bone church (yes huamn bones) there, listed as UNESCO heritage site.
It was actually a church where many rich people requested to be buried there after their death... and it became soo "crowded" that the skeletons had to be digged out and was decided to use to decorate the church, done by a half-blind monk.
yes, there was really really many bones around! About 40,000 to 70,000 human skeletons! See, even the estimation is so rough!
and yea, i was dared to touch the skull. So i did.. See my forced smile..
Last picture of prague...
The dancing couple buidling! Can you see them?
